We headed out this morning on another road trip. This time we are heading west for about seven weeks. Red Sandstone beckons, Dave. We are looking forward to a return to Moab for about a week. Ginny's cousins Daniel and Jacqueline from Belgium are going to be there so we can meet up for a few days.
Today we stopped by Waxahachie, Texas. We spent some time with Andy and Candace. Ginny, Andy and I learned to fly at the MIT Soaring Association from 1972 to 1976. That was a great deal of fun. Andy went on to a career in the Air Force flying F-16s followed by a career flying for Southwest Airlines. They live out in the country south of Dallas and have four horses and a bunch of dogs and cats. It is a very nice place. Mary Beth would love it.
So, tonight we are in Fort Worth. The route we took to the hotel up I-35W turned out to be a construction morass when we got within ten miles of the hotel. Our exit had been closed for construction which we learned only when we got there. Thankfully, there was a sign for the alternate exit and our iPad based GPS showed a nice route to get to the desired destination.
Tomorrow it is the Fort Worth Stockyards then on to Ginny's cousin's for the night and a nice barbecue. This is Texas. Barbecue is what we do. We also drink beer, of course.
