The Canal de São Vicente is a channel of the Atlantic Ocean separating the islands of Santo Antão and São Vicente. At its narrowest point, it is 12 km wide. The ferry route between the ports of Mindelo on São Vicente and Porto Novo on Santo Antão crosses the canal.
The Ilheu dos Passaros is the unhabited islet that lies in the cannel (at the left side of the image)
