Thank you to my lifelong lady friend Brenda Reiter who took this photo on Coast Guard Day 2016 for me. I have a gallery dedicated to Brenda at http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/brenda_reiter on my personal website.
Brenda has had Coast Guard blood in her since my first date with her on April 29, 1967 to watch the CGC DURABLE launching at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Maryland. I gave Brenda the St. Croix Detachment patch that I bought at a CG Exchange somewhere (Opa-locka, Mobile, Miami Beach, Curtis Bay, ?) in the past year or so because she lives most of the time in Christiansted, St. Croix and she runs into Coasties from time to time. I didn't notice the misspelled "detachment" on it until she took this photo of the patch that she mounted at the Beach Shack at Tamarind Reef where she works part-time. These fine Coasties (one stationed in St. Croix, the other three visiting her from other duty stations in Alaska and the mainland USA) asked Brenda to take some cell phone photos of them partying and Brenda agreed if they would pose with the patch they have on the wall behind the bar. They agreed like good Coasties should. Unfortunately I don't have any names to go with the photo so if anyone recognizes them please speak up. Thanks!
