On Sundays in Huaraz there is a food festival on José Olaya street. This is clearly the real deal as it was mostly locals here (we only saw one other tourist couple). Not only were their authentic Peruvian food options, but José Olaya is the only street that was not destroyed in the 1970 earthquake and allows a glimpse into what old Huaraz looked like.
