The second of my items returned today from Canon. It was one of my 24-105 lenses. The barrel that moves was moving by itself whenever it was pointed up or down. That is a problem with long exposures. So I pulled it out of the box and gave it a spin. The lens barrel definitely stays in place. I shot a few photos, and things seemed normal. Today's photo is a 100% crop. It is about 8% of the frame. I uploaded it unreduced and with minimum jpg compression. When I get a look at what the lens can do with my 5D Mk3, I am always impressed.
Now, here is a question for all you photographers out there. Has anybody ever messed with AF Microadjustment (Canon) or AF Fine Tune (Nikon)? I am having a sneaky suspicion that I need to do that. I am going to give is a try and see what happens. I find that the focus is a bit off at near distances. The good thing about messing with it is that if you goof it up, all you have to do is put the sliders back on zero.
BTW-we see a lot of camels along Brookforest Drive. There is a hump supply center just a few blocks down.
