Royal BC Museum, Victoria

wherever you travel, you meet other tourists along the way...this little charmer is named Lyuba, a baby of about 1-2 months age, who fell into the mud of a Siberian riverbank, drowned, froze, and was then virtually pickled by chemical processes, approximately 40,000 years ago...Lyuba, spotted by a reindeer herder in 2007, is apparently the best preserved woolly mammoth specimen ever found...she was on loan from the Shemonovskiy Museum, and has been touring the world since the year 2010

I read about it at the time but the story did not carry a photo. This is a very cool find. Nice, well lighted photo of it, David. V

Wow, now is this not truly amazing (to use an over-extended word)! Imagine the age of this creature, yet preserved eternally as a baby. This would be something to see. A very warm shot of this charmer, as you so aptly called her. V

Fascinating to see, it looks so much like an Elephant, at least in this stage of life.
