11:: terrible

Guildford, England

Guildford is a lovely, attractive town but it does have its traffic problems. Over the years it has created various Park and Ride sites so people can leave their car out of town and catch the dedicated bus into the city centre.

Nearly three years ago a fourth site was opened and this is the waiting room, an old container!

I have taken this shot from the bus stop so you see anybody wanting shelter is totally shielded from seeing when the bus arrives. And what you cannot see in my shot is that to provide power to the container, a heavy cable leads from an adjacent 'hole in the ground' which for health and safety reasons has a load of ungainly fencing. And to cap it all, this container occupies a number of parking spaces reserved for the disabled.

It has now been here nearly three years ago and is a total disgrace. Given that the bus waits here five minutes, you can easily wait in your car waiting for the bus to arrive and keep dry in comfort. All that is needed is a simple bus shelter to accommodate about six people, as frankly, this is not a popular site as it is not in the best position.

I must say, this has to be the ugliest bus stop I've ever seen! This reminds me of something you'd see in a third world country!

Urban planners who create monstrosities like this should be shot. I feel your frustrations in the rant...... good one!

Perfect for this adjective. Agree with your rant and with Jeanb's suggestion...
