Hiking Trails in Zermatt

With more than 400 km of signposted hiking and walking trails, Zermatt, Täsch and Randa offer a wide range of OPTIONS for hiking fans. The mountain railways take you effortlessly up to altitudes as high as 3,000 metres above sea level. With their breathtaking views of the Weisshorn and the peaks of the Mischabel group, the Täsch and Randa areas are the perfect place for anyone who enjoys getting right up to the highest altitudes. Or you can follow in the footsteps of Emile Zola, Edward Whymper and Albert Schweitzer to Trift. There are also walking trails close to the villages for those who prefer to take things a little easier. Themed walking trails tell you about the history and the nature and wildlife of the area. In 2009 a network of hiking trails with uniform signposts was introduced, in line with the "Quality Goals for Hiking Trails in Switzerland".
