Yes, the river almost makes a U-turn at the city. Across the river is Ridgeley, WV. The unused railroad bridge on the left used to bring the Cumberland bypass train traffic that crossed over the bridge into WV at Carpendale back to the Maryland side and to the Old B&O station.
