Heal-all (Prunella vulgaris)

Mer Bleue area

A common roadside/trailside plant of summer. This European species is also known as Self-heal, and both common names indicate how this plant was viewed, as an essential one in the medicinal garden. Culpeper, in his book of herbal lore from the mid-1600s, notes that this plant "cleanses the foulness of sores and speedily heals them." Whether it does or not, I have no idea.

Regardless of its healing properties and that it isn't native to your area, it is very pretty.

What a beautiful and delicate flower, in lovely color and detail. Interesting commentary, too. V.
