Cortes Island

the harbour at Whaletown, named for a 19th century whaling station that briefly operated here...this shot was taken from the upper deck of the ferry back to Quadra Island

semi-remote (electric power and telephone service only arrived in 1967), regular ferry service to Cortes began in 1969

A good and pleasing view from the upper deck. Life must have been interesting before the arrival of what we take so granted. Still looks unspoiled and beautiful.
