August 10, 1901 Levenworth Times from Levenworth, KA page 8:
“New York, Aug. 9 .Rebecca Ann McDonald of Binghamton, N. Y., is said to be preparing to enter suit to recover property in the city the value of which is estimated at 1100,000,000. Two hundred and eighty property owners are said to be involved. The claims will be made under the will of Jacob T. Arden, who died in 1803, He owned what was then known as the Arden farm situated on the East side of Manhattan island. At that time it was wild land but it now is situated in the center of the most populous up town district of New York. Jacob Arden left a will leaving his property to his only son, Jacob S. Arden, but provided in the will that in the event his son died without Issue the property should go to John Summers, his nephew. It is asserted that John Summers sold his contingent claim to Jacob S. Arden for $5,000 and believing that he had thus purchased the right to dispose of the property, Jacob Allen did so before he died a bachelor. It is on this claim of Rebecca A McDonald is based. She claims to be a granddaughter of Jacob S. Arden.”

(John Garrison aka Judge Garrison was born at Gravesend, L.I. August 25, 1764. He moved with his family to Brooklyn at an early age, his father died soon after and young John was left to care for his mother. He became a butcher under the instruction of Matthew Gleaves and opend his own business about 1785. For many years he had a stall in the Fly Market. He was a Staunch Methodist and was chosen a Church Trustee when the original Methodist Church opened in the village of Brooklyn. He served as a fireman in 1787, 1790, 1791, 1793, 1794; overseer of the poor 1803 – 1804; one of the committee of the board of health, 1809; a school commissioner, 1806 – 1807; Village Trustee 1816 & 1826 and for the larger part of his lifetime a judge of the common pleas or justice of the peace. In 1828 Judge Garrison acted as one of the presidential electors for Jackson. The Judge died January 22, 1831
