Out behind the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum, you have a good view of Spruce Tree House. It got its name because the first explorers were able to climb a "spruce tree" and access the dwelling from a branch of that tree. The tree is no longer standing, but it was actually a Rocky Mountain Douglas Fir, not a Spruce Tree at all!
