Chipping sparrow gathering dog hair

Rockcliffe Park

This sparrow was busy collecting dog hairs for its nest at the dog park today. This particular park is a wooded knoll, and at one end of the trail the chipping sparrows (there was a pair) were obviously gathering nest material. Each time I passed by, one of them was busy gathering up dog hair often landing on the ground next to me! However, it was not easy to get a shot as the bird was moving constantly.

Marvelous catch and lucky to have them nesting nearby.

Longest day of your year and the birds are busy ....

I always wished I would have taken a photo when they would hop up to a sleeping Jasper and help themselves to nesting material! Nice catch.

What a clever bird to live near a dog park - such a cute catch, Christine!

A neat photo and I'm sure Sasha would provide some hair for them.

These small birds work so hard building their nests. V.
