The 21mm is the perfect candid lens: more action, depth, integrity and intimacy in a contextual portrait situation than the voyeuristic comfort of post-70mm telephoto, requiring the snapper to be within the context (s)he's shooting. Such is the width of view that you can waggle your camera in front of someone's face, point the lens away from them yet still include them and compose the shot.

As this "world tree" with planets was being boned in(sorry, surveyor's phrase), a peculiar dance unfolded between the 3 people responsible for its contextual placement against the lines of the tracery of the fenestration behind....

No, I was shooting candidly and using the 21mm focal length to not draw attention to myself.
The 3 people were already in the process of doing the arrangments; I had no interaction of any kind with them. The lady I think was directing the proceedings and engaged on the same parallel action of composition in a public space as I was.
