These artefacts in the agora-space are puposefully placed WITH the abbey building: every artefact or display is placed contextually alongside the abbey so as to make a public statement in a public place about the beliefs of those in power, and the beliefs you are thus NOW supposed to have:

Read about "agorism". The agora in Greek times WAS the secular "church": the marketplace for ideas political and spiritual...it was THIS THAT PAUL EXPERIENCED in Athens as he too saw the placement of "gods" and principles of human prosperity, right in the economic and social hub of the community: change minds and hearts by addressing the public in a public space.

The lines of the compostion are inclusive of the lines of ther abbey: the symbolic intent of the tree and the saws is quite clear, as it's directly in context with the abbey that is part of the compostion.

You see, every one of these displays here celebrates itself, but does so by purposefully denigrating Christianity: all displays INCLUDE the abbey as part of their composition.

Bath Abbey, in graphic language, is allowing itself to be put in the market stocks with its arse smacked, and grins embarrassedly in a spirit of "equality" as it invites onlookers to not only do it again but also pelt it with rotten fruit.

What next? Pope saying sorry for the Crusades?

Rotten fruit indeed: read Jeremiah for the symbols of good figs and bad figs at time of approaching destruction(which was happening for the same reason in Jerusalem in 586 BC as it is now).
