The wages of sin are death.
Death is introduced as a mercy for mankind in Genesis: man is eternally separated in the condition of sin from God: conscious of separation from God for ALL eternity.
Not good.
OK, this guy will end up in a lake of fire (Revelation)...but not before he draws the wages in full.

Earth never meets heaven in the Christian tradition.
It does in the spiritualities that predate and inform Vedic hinduism some 5000 years ago.
It also does in Greek mythology(which helps inform our worldview and manner of conceptualising in the west).

Both these latter beliefs have MONISM at their core: a belief that the divine exists within the creation. He's not. Man is created. He cannot emerge form his own nature to rescue himself: despite the Olympic games, superhero mutants emerging as part of man's higher nature, Man does not have a higher nature, but a fallen one:
Man cannot effect rescue uoon himself. Any idea that sells this is a counterfeit of the promise of Jesus to return for the bridal girlies who are ready. He won't hang about, so your lamps need to be ready, as He'll come at night.

This means a pre-trib "rapture" is unscriptural hooey. And it is: Paul warned of this falsehood, and indeed "revivalism" based on hypercharismania and prosperity teaching brought this falsehood into churches via Darby and the Millerites in the early 19th C, helping inform the very sectarian protestant evangelism that was warning aginst itself!

Earth has not met heaven in or near Bath abbey.

However, it is actually closer than it was, but not for the reason you may think.

The process of "heaven coming down" is not one of "emergence" at all: the "1st heaven" draws closer as it no longer has the original waters above the firmament, ie, past the "2nd heaven" of outer space. The reason for this is because there is also no veil in the temple of heaven because of the work of Christ on the cross.
OK, this is hard to explain in a sentence: Colossians and Hebrews talk of an earthly temple of which the substance is Christ, and the planets and firmament are the second heaven that will pass away (no sun, no moon in Rev; dislocated planets in Isaiah as the 2nd heaven is rolled up.
So, in that sense, heaven will indeed come to earth, but it will be throneroom of God (1st heaven) as there no longer is any 1st or 2nd heaven(sky or planetary bodies or even space for them): God not abiding sin and all that, this will consume everything before a new heaven and new earth.
Now HOPEFULLY we in the Body remain prepared so as to NOT be the church that gets left behind: because for the apostate church that is not ready for Christ, will be out there in the darkness gnashing its teeth.

That time is the "tribulation", or Jacob's Trouble, as it were, in JudaeoChristianity. The faithful church will be off, as in Thess. The apostate one will be left behind.
And in a world where there is no longer the Holy Spirit (the restrainer in Thess) restraining the world by the Word, Godly governance and leadership...where there is NO LONGER a Holy Spirit in the world to even convict the world(!)...the world after Christ, a world of being "church" in a universe that God now in biblical terms "hates": will be a terrifying place.
(And I use the word "hate" correctly in its scriptural mneaning: that of withdrawing and abandoning the giving of love).
There is little wonder then at God's mercy to "shorten these days for the sake of the elect".

But. God desires that ALL are saved...and saved for all time from even death; the whosoevers of John 3, the maids called Rhoda, the invisibles, the untouched and untouchable, the unloved...and the only way this is done is by Jesus building His church.

Jesus will build His church....and so it would be helpful if she were first to self-identify as bride or whore correctly.
