Mountain Lion, Viejas Indian Reservation, circa 1877
The practice of recounting personal interest stories with images posted on PBase seems to be becoming more popular. I shall join in today.
Due to the constant use of a pedometer I know that I walk on average at least five miles a day, often more, yesterday for example I walked over eight miles.
To walk so much, one needs not only comfortable shoes, but also comfortable socks. Having purchased some exceedingly comfortable socks two weeks ago, I decided to return to the point of purchase today.
This was the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet Store at the Viejas Outlet Mall, located on the Viejas Indian Reservation in picturesque Alpine, California, east of San Diego at an elevation of 2,300ft.
The Mall is landscaped and decorated to look “natural”, or at least as natural as a mall can possibly look. This includes a wide variety of succulent plants, waterfalls, adobe architecture and many sculptures.
One of these sculptures is a metal Mountain Lion resting on top of a sculpted tree which I think is made of concrete, because it is very hard, very tall and very thick.
With my new socks in the bag, so to speak, I stopped briefly to take my photo of the day, deciding after downloading it that it needed some aging to make it look, if not more credible, at least old.
So there you have it! That’s how you get an aged photo of a Mountain Lion when going sock shopping!
