Week #3 - Cardinal
by Dale R. Palmer

I like the way this cardinal is not totally out in the open but rather in the trees.

Very nice clarity in this shot, Dale. I am always amazed at how fat their beaks are. Great colors and nicely shot, especially when he was "hiding" amongst the branches like this.

He is very pretty - more orange than red in this picture. I like that you caught him in his natural habitat.

Yes, great minds... I shot this on full auto and did some post processing. I usually only use the bird setting if the birds are in flight. The cardinal is a favorite of mine as well.

Lot, Dale. You know what they say about great minds. We share the same subject (different birds of course) for Week #3. Kind of like the "Challenges"!!!

It's fun to see your take on the subject. Looking at the settings, I was shooting in lower light. Our reds are very different. That's part of the fun of photography and shooting at different times of day and with different settings. Did you use the Bird Setting for this shoot or your own choice of settings?

Cardinals have always been my mom's favorite birds, and they are now becoming mine, too.
