In preparation for my passing, several months ago dad made a special box and decorated it with floral wrapping paper. We did not know when I would make my transition, we just knew that there wouldn't be time for such niceties when it actually occurred.
Colorful tissue paper lined the inside, making a soft bed. Dad took this photo once the box was complete.
Mom and dad carried me to my last vet appointment in the open box. I rested comfortably and hardly moved while mom gently stroked my coat and talked to me. Afterwards they carried my remains to the animal crematorium where they stroked my head for the last times and said their final goodbyes.
