This was my first foray into the world of fisheye lenses, using a 10mm/2.8 EX DC Sigma that kind people at a Sigma showroom let me test.
What I found interesting - and completely unexpected, due to my lack of prior experience with fisheyes - is the viewing angle. In a rectilinear 10mm, the viewing angle is something like 100 degrees at best. In a 10mm fisheye lent, it is close to 180 degrees.
If you can live with the distortion and bending of straight lines, this 10mm fish eye gives amazing effects. And the closer you get to the subject the more curious things become.
All in all a very interesting lens to work with, if you want to experiment, play, and try out new things. Would I buy one for several hundred dollars ? Not just yet. But I will rent one for more experiments - and then decide.
