Personality Plus!

I saw this beautiful little bird at Finley Wildlife Refuge, near Corvallis, and the only birds I could find in my bird books that look similar are Flycatchers. Perhaps it is some kind of flycatcher. Anyway, I am looking for help with the ID. Would appreciate any feedback. Note: the consensus is that the bird is a Black Phoebe.

I believe this is the first photos I have ever got of this bird. So I was pleased. :)

Yep, I agree - definitely a Black Phoebe, and from my book, a little out of his normal range so a super sighting for you! I love the nice green background and that you caught him in the middle of a call. :)

I thought phoebe when I saw it but I'm not a birder. Either way, it's a fine photo, for sure. Nice detail and perch. That you caught it singing is a plus. Vote.

Terrific image. I think this Black Phoebe would be a rare bird for your area. I would think your local Audubon would interested in this.

Nice little fellow, slight resemblance to our Willy Wagtail, also a flycatcher type of bird.
