Veiled chameleons are native to Yemen and southern Saudi Arabia. They live in dry plateaus, mountains, and river valleys. They prefer living in trees, bushes, or shrubs. After hatching, they are usually a pastel green, but as they mature they acquire bands of gold, green, and blue, mixed with yellow, orange, or black that go around their bodies. The scientific name is Chamaeleo calyptratus.
