Bell 407 (est. $1.8 million) 1 of 3 407's in TPD's Aviation Squad. Aviation provides 24hr air support for ground units as well as patroling potential terrorist targets as part of the counties Homeland Defense effort. Pilots Must have their Private Pilots certificate along with, Instrument rating and comercial pilots license. To even be considered for the unit potential prospects must have all 3 ratings and if selected Helicopter training is done in house. To be promoted to Flight Officer the pilot must complete the 250 hours in the helicopter. Average cost of operating the Bell 407 turbine engine helo is about $500 hr.
