nigh

for years the Vancouver real estate market has spiralled out of control, so the current reality means over-priced costs for modest locations...in this case an 80 year old house will sell for over $3 million Canadian dollars, not for the structure but instead for the leafy, peaceful west side location...alas, I have occupied the upstairs suite here for the last 19 years...as of today though, the end is nigh, realistically within three months

Sounds like a bubble for sure. Shame that it leaves you in a pinch.

That is crazy! I'm sorry to hear you have to leave. It looks peaceful.
Colin Storey24-Mar-2016 20:07
So sorry to hear of this, hope you find somewhere just as suitable.

Such a shame you have to leave, good luck in the search

Seems as though property values trump community and livability. Hope you can find a place that feels like home.

A huge divide in the real estate market here too. Tough to leave after 19 years David. Hope you find a suitable new space soon.

WOW ~ expensive real estate!
Wishing you luck in finding new digs David!

Sounds like a crazy market to me, and so sad that you have to leave this house after all those years. I hope you're able to find something equally charming.
Sam Rua24-Mar-2016 06:17
While I am happy for Paul, seeing this is more than a bit depressing. Fantastic location with that certain charm that fits well with your character, David. But, I'm convinced that said character will prevail and find a new dwelling of similar charm.

Ouch!
So expensive over there, hope you find a great place to live

how sad. This reminds me of the situation here some 7-8 years ago.V

This is too bad, David. Best wishes from both of us as you search for your new home.

That is just so sad !! I'm guessing there are a lot of people in the same boat - apartment rentals are horrendous too, as our grandson is battling with while going to university. The bubble has to burst eventually !!
Neil Marcus24-Mar-2016 00:32
Wow! where can you go from here, reasonably.
Dan Greenberg23-Mar-2016 23:52
That sucks. Where are you planning on moving?

Unbelievably sad in my opinion. The verdant yard and the house that fits it beautifully (and looks wonderful) will be destroyed for a Vancouver Special, I suppose. The price is unbelievable.
Jim Coffman23-Mar-2016 22:59
Totally crazy!! What are you going to do, David??
Marcia Rules23-Mar-2016 22:56
Holy smokes! Crazy market for sure.......
janescottcumming23-Mar-2016 22:26
Wow, glad I'm not looking to buy a house out there, that's a lot of money! Hope you have found someplace just as nice to move to.
