Mallard (M) With Beak and Tongue Series

Mud Lake, Ottawa, Ontario Canada

Mallard with part of his beak missing. This appears to be an old injury or maybe he was born with this beak as there are no sharp edges. He has no problem eating, drinking or grooming.
The top image shows the front of the beak with his tongue protruding out past the beak.

The second image shows his beak and tongue from a different angle.

Sad, but well captured images and well described Catherine.

Oh, that beak looks nasty. It mustn't slow him down as he looks to be in his prime.
