This is the remains of the 1820s sewer line beneath Kingston's main street. It's a big deal called the "Big Dig". Two to three blocks are being done per season and includes digging to a depth of 12 feet through solid limestone and replacing sewer lines, water lines, electrical, fibre optics, gas and phone lines. Plus the new street surface and sidewalk enhancements.
