The most striking feature on the front of the church is the portico, whose arches show different architectural styles
- a typical example of the combination of Gothic and Moorish styles, as can be observed in many buildings in this region of Portugal.
Above the Manueline portal are the symbols of the two kings Joăo II and Manuel I, who had the church built: the pelican and the armillary sphere.
