eucalypt open forest

best viewed at original size

First of three photos illustrating variation in density within the eucalypt savanna; this one of open forest. Often, the variation is associated with different species of eucalypt.
Here, tall open forest is likely composed of Melville Island Bloodwood (Corymbia nesophila) – the yellower crowns, and Darwin Stringybark (Eucalyptus tetrodonta) – the duller crowns, with scattered brighter-green crowns that I guess might be Cooktown Ironwood (Erythrophleum chlorostachys).

Far more dense than the other two shots in this series. I wonder what it is like to walk beneath this canopy. V
