The Crooked House

Considered rather a secret in The Midlands, this pub is to be found at the end of an overgrown side road in Staffordshire, close to Himley Hall, one of our favourite places for walking. We were told of its whereabouts by a friendly neighbour.

"Built in 1765 it was originally a farmhouse. Mining in the area in the 19thC caused subsidence and now one side is considerably lower than the other. It later became a public house named Siden House (siden meaning crooked in local Black Country dialect)" - Wikipedia

That is certainly interesting, although not sure I'd want to be drinking in there. V.

Love it ! Amazing how the Brits have adapted old (and often crooked) buildings to modern standards. V

The carpenters did a good job with the door and window frames.
