Tangara lavinia
We had the entire day for birding today and ended up seeing lots of birds and taking lots of photos. I knew it was going to be a good one when the first three birds we saw in the morning were Swallow-tailed Kites. Some of the birds we saw and/or photographed include Purple Gallinule, Green Ibis, Bare-throated Tiger-Heron, Tropical Pewee, Gray-breasted Martin, Blue-and-white Swallow, Green Honeycreeper, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Black-cowled Oriole, Paltry Tyrannulet, Black-faced Grosbeak, Collared Aracari, Scarlet-rumped Cacique, Scarlet-thighed Dacnis, Rufous-winged Tanager, Black-mandibled Toucan, Lovely Cotinga, Broad-billed Motmot, Keel-billed Motmot, Gray Hawk, Northern Schiffornis and Blue-black Grosbeak.
It was a challenge to choosse the bird to post for today but I ended up deciding to go with this Rufous-winged Tanager, mainly because I just really like the bird. It was feeding with several others in a fruiting ficus tree and boy did it put on a show.
