Gray Jay on a Canon 600mm Lens

Algonquin Provincial Park
Ontario

I have seen images of wildlife looking into camera viewfinders and lenses; and standing on lenses; but until recently, have never seen it in person. A number of photographers were photographing Red Foxes in Algonquin Park in January, 2016; when this Gray Jay created some amusement among us by landing on Joe's lens! I saw the Jay land, out of the corner of my eye; and I happened to be in the perfect spot to photograph it.

Some birds don't know where to sit. There should be a sign on the lens that says: Birds need to sit in front of the lens, and they need to observe the minimum focusing distance of the 600mm F4. Sitting on the lens is prohibited.

Great picture though :-)
