Seen throughout the building and in the prisoner cells are those back and forth pipes (left side, viewing) that connect at the ends to input and output for hot water supply - early radiators for central heating. Central heating was new in the early 19th century when the penitentiary opened its doors. But its central heating system has not been working for decades, so bring a coat in winter!
