20160224 163 SERIES - American Wigeon and Mallards.jpg

Ottawa West

Two images of American Wigeons overwintering in Ottawa, a rather rare occurrence.

Top Image: The male Wigeon doing a wing-flap whilst the Missus prepares for a dive/splash.

Not to be outdone, the Missus starts her wing-flap whilst Mr Wigeon and the Mallards look on.

other sizes: small medium original auto

I can feel the cold looking at these two images. Both are beautifully shot with superb details and great color. Your timing was excellent especially with the wing span so detailed in the top image. Voted+

Two lovely shots! The wigeon is such an attractive duck. You can see why it used to be called "Baldpate" in the old days!

Very nice find, Hank. At 92mm you were almost in the water with them!! The old 70-300mm is pretty sharp on the D800; with good colour.
