The Hostess at the Red Lobster
The work of the Cell Phone doing what a Cell Phone does best: a snap shot.
The lighting is uneven, the background busy, etc. But this was a moment-in-time that I could not let go past without some sort of photo. The funky floral head band that the young lady is wearing had flashing lights that absolutely brightened a grey day. The girl's warm smile and her sweet personality complemented her charming bling.
I will be the first to admit that this photo doesn't do the moment or girl justice. Flash fill maybe could have helped with the shadows. Or not. Cell phone flash can - not only temporarily blind the photo subject - but also make every pore and imperfection look like a crater. Shooting from this close, that's what would have happened here. IMO, that would have been worse than the shadows.
Although I was not prepared to do any sort of portrait photography, the lovely young lady and her happy smile and her flashing neon flowers demanded a photo. This was the photo that I could get with the camera equipment and with the odd ambient lighting that I had that day. However, I'm glad I took the time to snap the shot.
