Brian (ZONE8) with 5x4 teaching at Hartland Quay - no date available as was taken by Dick Howes (from Exmouth) and sent to me as image on a Christmas Card. Would guess about 1980-ish-ish. Have not retouched. Dick made colour prints - normally very good. His caption inside the card included: "Tuition in the Field - OR - The end of a Course" and comments: "Sorry about the crossed curves. Exposure range was impossible from direct reflection to rock in shadow". This was of course pre-digital and made using colour negative film. The foreground area is actually full of sea spray - in case anyone wondered. It was often necessary to use guy lines to keep the tripod from being blown over, despite its relatively large weight. Hartland - even when fairly calm - can be both blustery and somewhat treacherous, especially out on this headland ridge point.
