Might this be the Castor Oil Plant (Ricinus communis)? 'Tis a riparian weed in northern Australia.

We have a shrub with seed pods like this though the leaves are different to those...at a guess I would say some type of chestnut as they have those deep vein leaves and serrated edge and conker type seed pods :)
