January 19

Sugar Land, Texas

The days are getting longer and I'm so happy about it.
Over Christmas-time, it was already dark when I would leave the office.
Now, I get about 17 minutes (yes, I've been timing it) of daylight.
My commute is one mile from work to home, and this is the halfway point.
I parked and took a little walk across the golf course to photograph the sunset.
This photo was taken about 5 minutes before the sun went down.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who pays attention to sunrise and sunset times. Although down my way there's a large escarpment just to the west of us so while we do have a gradual sunrise over the ocean, sunset is more like someone flipping a switch since the sun is below the escarpment way before it hits the horizon.
I like the way that the sky shows a fading light, while the darkness of the trees in the foreground contain a hint of the night that is soon to come.

The light is wonderful and the silhouetted trees look spectral against the sky. V

Wonderful end of the day composition, Lynn. The silhouetted trees next to the water and set against a beautiful sky is lovely. Vote.
