A young woman in Whole Foods offered me a trial drink of coffee. I liked it and bought a bag of beans to grind at home. Then went to the liquor store to look for the 'best' whiskey in the world, according to a recent test, Crown Royal Northern Harvest. But all sold out so I made do with the regular stuff

I understand for the Northern Harvest they went back to an old 100% rye recipe, no fruit additives or corn. Its a superb whiskey, and although I like Glenmorangie Scotch, Northern Harvest is great, beats Laphroaig easily, and Makers Mark is a different taste.

I have found that all the new stuff is not up to snuff with the old line stuff. It is all bullshit marketing. The Glenlivet or Laphroaig or Makers Mark will never be surpassed. There are a lot of other ones which suffice as well. I tried some Jacob's Ghost (a white whiskey) which was (at best) not much different from Everclear. If it has been around for a long time, buy it; otherwise mix it with Coca Cola and give it to the girls.
