Collection of Hindu religious texts.
Telugu script on palm leaves.
Likely 18th century from southern India.
Poetic devotional compositions that would have been set to music, a well-known genre of Telugu verse.

I can see by the wrapping that they must be handled with care. So glad someone is preserving these old texts.

Interesting shot, glad you show this Steph. I have some 19th Century Palm Leaf Texts and don't handle them because of their fragility. Our climate dries them out and even in India their lifespan is limited, and this is why sacred texts and Sanskrit Literature were copied over and over again which produced variations over the centuries. Epic texts like the Mahabharata for example may be written on over 50,000 of these leaves.
