Only a handful of people at the park and my luck, one was Penny who alerted me to the shoveler.
With its bill tucked away it looked just like the female mallard beside it and I never would have
noticed it.



She swam a short distance to get away from the feeding mallard.



Then resumed her nap and didn't mind me briefly getting closer. I wonder where she is in the snowstorm today.
