I have had an interesting few days. It all started on Tuesday when my order for roll paper for my printer arrived. I was very excited. I had a bunch of panoramas I wanted to print. My photo for today is one of them, from Monument Valley. Anyway, it was 8" X 32" and I couldn't wait to bask in the glory of a beautiful print. Then came the classic "Aw Sh!t." The color was horribly off. Way off. I spent hours going through settings and doing some test prints, but nothing improved the matter. My editing and printing setup works very well normally. So I finally gave up on it and decided to think about it for a while.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, I decided that it was time to upgrade my external drives. I did some figuring and concluded I needed (NEEDED!, not wanted) two 4 TB hard drives to make things work tickety boo. So I went to Fry's, my normal go to place for things electronic. They must have been having a bad day. Three different salesmen and three different answers. Normally these guys are pretty good, but today they must have had the B team on duty. These Bozos were clueless. So I initiated Plan B. That would be Best Buy. I have found that Best Buy is getting better and better. I waltzed in, corralled a salesman and he led me right to the exact thing I wanted. He knew what he was talking about and he knew about the products they stock. So I picked up two 4TB hard drives for $148 each. I have mentioned before my wonderment at the continually dropping cost of mass storage. Back at the house I started into a two day process of getting the new hard drives into the lineup. One of them I keep at the house and the other one I keep in the safe deposit box.
Now back to the printer. One thing that crossed my mind was the Microsoft universal answer to everything: REBOOT! I tried that and other things like resetting the printing parameters and all the likely places for error. I printed one last picture to see if I had made any progress, but it was the worst one yet. I had a very close look and discovered some faint horizontal lines. Could it be clogged nozzles? I ran the testing and cleaning program and VOILA! Everything was back to normal. The light cyan cartridge nozzles were the problem. I was back in business and I printed two nice panoramas, one of them 12" X 30". These two panoramas are what I intend to enter in the club judging in January.
