We arrived in Las Vegas Friday evening and stayed in Henderson that night. The next morning we drove to the Grand Canyon. It's about a four hour drive to the south rim from Henderson and we made a few stops along the way. The Hoover Dam is only thirty minutes or so from Henderson and we were early enough we avoided long lines at the security check point and easily got free parking in the small lots just beyond the dam.
