The trail rounded around Ayer Rock and traversed back south along Hance Creek. This part of the traverse felt like it took forever. It wasn't physically hard - the trail was mostly level - it just dragged on. There were numerous drainages and the trail had to zig zag in and out of each one. Just when we came around a bend hoping to spot the camping area at Hance Creek, we just saw another drainage. The trail also followed the rim of Hance Creek canyon; the trail was always comfortable, but there was a sense of exposure.
