"Kindertransport" by Frank Meisler, near Friedrichstrasse SBahn

"Kindertransport is the name given to the rescue mission that began nine months prior to the outbreak of World War II. The United Kingdom took in nearly 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia and the Free City of Danzig. The children were placed in
British foster homes, hostels, and farms." - from the website

The sculpture is the work of Frank Meisler,born in Danzig, educated and graduated in Architecture at Manchester University.

This sculpture, in Berlin, of "Kindertransport" is one of four such works. The others are in London at the Liverpool St Station,UK, Gdansk, Poland at the main railway station,and Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Wonderful capture of this moving memorial- and far more current then we could wish for. It's been 80 years and people still have to flee from oppression and war! ~V~

Great capture of this sculpture with a moving story behind. Superb texture and composition ; My heart cry when I saw the little girl holding a rabbit dolls in her hand walking away from their parlent. BV+++
