This bonsai sculpture beside St. Salvador cathedral is part of the Triennale Bruges 2015 and is the work of the Chinese sculptor, Song Dong. The sculpture is made from windows saved from destruction during the Cultural Revolution in China when historic buildings, temples, and neighborhoods were destroyed to make way for giant skyscrapers and monolith shopping centers. According to the artist, this work expresses the tension existing between unbridled urban growth and the treatment of heritage and nature. The title of the sculpture is 'Wu Wei er Wei'(Doing Nothing Doing) which expresses a Taoist concept meaning 'inaction'.
