Happy Thanksgiving Rant

Black Friday. I get it, I really do and it was a lot of fun for many years...

Retailers and shops need to turn a profit and many people are more than willing to take OT and extra wages/perks in order to make it all work. But what started as Black Friday years ago has now spread into a month long "event" that pimps out the original purpose of Black Friday to a distant memory of stampedes, fights and choking each other out for a cabbage patch doll. The good ole days!

I ran out early this morning with my trusty hound, an empty cup to get more coffee and the one newspaper I buy each year. Regardless if I go shopping of not, I like looking at the ad's. It takes me back to being a kid and the Sears catalog wishing for the latest of whatever knowing it would be more things of clothes and such than toys but that is a whole other PaD. If you want to shop on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day be my guest. Enjoy. I know my stubbornness won't affect Target, Walmart or the rest of the retailers who are already open or going to be soon. It is what it is. I am supporting Small Business Saturday this year as well as dining at a local non chain place to eat. It's my middle finger to this nonsense that Black Friday has become. Besides, we have Amazon Prime and as Flynn so nicely poses for todays PaD he wont be home alone wheile I am sipping bourbon and shopping online (with free shipping).

Happy Thanksgiving to all my PaD friends and followers! We all have much to be thankful for....

Flynn is so patient... the exact opposite of the hordes of shoppers who descend on the mall. I don't like shopping, even when it's NOT the holidays, so it's online or gift cards on my list. V

Being from the Great White North (Saskatchewan "easy to draw hard to spell")we never even knew that "Black Friday" was a big deal. It was not until the advent of the old interweb we found out about it. It seems that even in Canada we now have a month long "Black Friday Event" I could care less and like you we will do something along the same lines on Saturday!!! Just think in six weeks we will be hit with the "Boxing Day Sales"!!!!!!
bravo...Mike
