Phainopepla nitens

This Phainopepla photo was probably my favorite shot from our recent west Texas trip. When we encountered it a Northern Mockingbird was busy trying to chase it away from a juniper loaded with berries. When this photo was taken the mockingbird had chased it almost all the way to the ground which offered what in my opinion was an excellent setting among the yellow flowers.
