In Portugal, it is traditional to make a big magusto, chestnuts roasted under the coals of the fire (sometimes dried figs and walnuts), and drink a local alcoholic beverage called water-foot, resulting from the addition of water to the grape pod, or jeropiga (a sweet liquor obtained in a very similar way, which still includes brandy).
