Rochester, NY

The City of Rochester has demolished hundreds of vacant homes creating large swaths of green space called "urban prairies." This is on Boston St. with a view of an abandoned synagogue in the background on Joseph Avenue.

I wonder whether those prairies will be maintained or whether they'll just become overgrown dumping grounds. The thing is, when you mentioned all of the housing being demolished my first thought was those galleries of homeless shelters that you did a while back.

An abandoned synagogue. That says a lot. Very sad. Vote.

Even with the sepia tone there is an impersonal and cold mood of despair and isolation. Very nicely composed and very powerful. Voted

Sad to see these abandoned homes which once held happy healthy families. V

The clean siding at first diverts attention from the boarded up windows. Excellent composition and toning, and interesting information as well. V.

Has the look and feel of a Farm Security Administration photo. ~V~

How sad. No tax base now. Nature reclaims the ruins. I agree with Walter, the sepia tone works well in this. V
